  • New Journals:
  • FLASH! We now have access to the journal Cell Cycle! Note that you can set up a Table of Contents Alert, but you can also do this for multiple journals through either the Web of Science or PubMed. If you're not sure how, it's quick and easy (just not very intuitive) and I'd be happy to show you.
  • Also check out Harvard Papers in Botany, now being indexed in CABI. Here is what CABI notes: "CABI Abstracts database has judged the content of Harvard Papers in Botany to be both novel and important."
  • The newsletter is now available!
  • The Latest New Books: New books have been ordered, and we are still open to suggestions! Keep checking the Ernst Mayr (MCZ) Library’s new arrivals at http://library.mcz.harvard.edu/newbooks/, or just click on New Books under About the Library. Browse the list or select your subject areas on the right. Recently added:

  1. Notice the XML  button on the Ernst Mayr Library New Books page; you can subscribe to the RSS feed and get notices sent to your aggregator. (And if you don’t use RSS, we’d be happy to show you! It’s an easy way to get updates from many sources - news websites; organizations such as ubio; databases such as PubMed (which also allows you to directly save your individual references and searches as well as getting updates); journals and publishers (tables of contents or keyword searches); and more, without cluttering up your email.
  2. As you are aware, the NIH now requires that electronic versions of any peer-reviewed manuscripts arising from NIH funding and accepted for publication after April 7, 2008 be deposited in PubMed Central (PMC) and made publicly available by PMC no later than 12 months after publication. In addition, as of May 25, 2008, “anyone submitting an application, proposal, or progress report to NIH must include the PubMed Central reference number (PMCID) when citing articles that arise from their NIH funded research.”

Countway has made all this information available from their website at
https://www.countway.harvard.edu/. Included are links to further information. PMC also has very helpful information, with answers to common questions and much more. At http://www.nihms.nih.gov/ there are details about the NIH Manuscript Submission System, and there is an FAQ at http://publicaccess.nih.gov/FAQ.htm.
