Regulation of Pho80/Pho85 cyclin-CDK complex by nutrients and their metabolites
I am interested in the mechanism connecting environmental changes to Pho85 CDK activity. Pho85 is a kinase involved in several environment responses - most notably that of phosphate response (PHO) systems. Phosphate starved cells inactivate Pho85 kinase activity leading to the dephosphorylation of Pho4 transcription factor and expression of phosphate response genes. Using biochemical and proteomics tools, I am investigating the mechanism connecting phosphate availability and the kinase activity. I am also interested in the dynamics of nutrients and other small molecules in cells and their effects on protein/gene functions.
